Trip Meeting

Thanks so much for taking time from your busy schedule to attend the Ireland trip meeting this evening!  I will be using this blog as a means of communicating with parents and friends of NCHS band members while we are in Ireland.  I'll post pictures (and it won't just be photos of the Granlund children) and keep a journal of our travels! Please feel free to subscribe to the blog now so that you can receive important information in the weeks leading up to our departure.

This blog will be written by the other Granlund...Mrs. Granlund.  You could say that I am quite experienced at group travel.  This is my 18th band trip, with 13 of those being trips that I organized for my own bands, and this will be my second overseas group trip!  I am very excited to share this exciting adventure with the NC students and parents.

One question that we wanted to address from the meeting this evening is regarding the flights.  First of all, we apologize for the typos in the booklet!  Mr. Fur's explanation of why we are on two different flights was also inaccurate.  As our students and chaperones will soon discover, traveling in a group is VERY different from traveling with your family!  We tried to book flights together for our entire group but were unable to reserve 120 seats on one flight.  This is the ONLY reason we are on two flights.  Mr. Fur suggested that this decision was made based on cost.  This was not the case.  He is very good at what he does, but he has a number of groups that he works with...in fact, he is traveling to Ireland next week with the Purdue band!  He confused our situation with another group when he suggested that we elected to split our group based on cost.

A few important additions to the trip booklet:
1.  Report to the Performing Arts Classroom via door #24 between 8:00-8:45 on Friday, 3/22.
2.  Students will wear tan/khaki pants with the jackets for performances.
3.  Jackets will be distributed to students on Friday morning, 3/22.

Well, let the countdown begin!  Have you decided what to pack?  Start making a list of what you want to take with you now so that when it comes time to pack all you have to do is check off you list!  I'm making my list and checking it twice!

-Mrs. Granlund
